Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) confirms the following certified candidates for the 2025 ITK Presidential Election:
- Kevin Kablutsiak
- Natan Obed
The election will be conducted during ITK’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Each certified candidate will address the voting body prior to the vote.
Who votes
Under ITK’s by-laws, ITK’s Members are the four Inuit Treaty Organizations. Accordingly, the President is elected at the AGM by their duly appointed Member Representatives and Delegates, together with the Vice-President of ITK. This structure ensures the outcome reflects the democratically mandated will of Inuit as expressed through their regional organizations.
Election Date
The ITK Presidential Election is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Under ITK’s Election Procedures, the vote takes place on the final day of the AGM. Each certified candidate will deliver prepared remarks, with a brief question and answer period, after which voting and the official count will be conducted.
