On the latest episode of Drumbeats, a Canadian Indigenous investment podcast, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed talks about how structured Indigenous partnerships across 40% of Canada’s land area are creating multi-billion dollar investment opportunities in the Arctic.
“Going through the front door is always the best option when working with Inuit,” President Obed says. “We have land claims organizations, we have rights-holding institutions, we have development corporations. This is not a Wild West and if investors or potential businesses think they can come in and treat Canada like a 3rd world country, or like an unregulated environment where Indigenous peoples are not a central part of this equation of doing business, I would say that is not the case.”
