As the national voice for protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada, a major part of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s work includes drawing attention to the impacts of colonization, prejudice and the social inequalities being faced by Inuit and marshalling available resources to work towards eliminating these inequalities and promoting sustainable development in Inuit Nunangat.
Many of the United Nation’s (UN’s) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) align with ITK’s work and priorities and this report reflects these connections. In order to advance the SDGs locally, Canada must advance efforts directed towards eliminating the inequity between Inuit Nunangat and the rest of Canada.
